About Us
The Director, Mrs. Emily Allison-Francis is a leading advocate of vitamin D supplementation to help combat chronic diseases which disproportionately affect dark-skinned people worldwide. Her book, Correcting the Vitamin D Deficiency Epidemic: Strategies to Fight Disease and Prolong Life for Black People,
explores the connection between vitamin D deficiency and the high illness and mortality rates among Blacks. It also provides practical steps that dark-skinned people worldwide can take to improve their vitamin D status as well as useful, natural health strategies to help prevent and fight chronic diseases.
Mrs. Francis currently works with the New York City Department of Education as a high school librarian. She has taught biology, earth science, food and nutrition, and library research to high school students in New York City. She also worked as a reference librarian and adjunct professor at Medgar Evers College, CUNY for several years
Mrs. Francis’ many years of professional service also include teaching high school chemistry and biology and working in a supervisory capacity with the Ministry of Education in Jamaica. Prior to working with the Ministry of Education, she worked with the Ministry of Agriculture in Jamaica, guiding rural farm families in matters related to food production and family nutrition.
Mrs. Francis has an Associate Degree from the Jamaica School of Agriculture, a B.S. Degree in Nutrition from Tuskegee University in Alabama, a M.S. Degree in Nutrition from Hunter College of the City University of New York, a Masters in Library Science from Queens College of the City University of New York, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of the West Indies.

The Environmental Educator, Sebert Harper has a B.S. in Horticulture, a Certificate in Agriculture and a Certificate in Horticulture Therapy.
Mr. Harper is an Environmental Educator and Garden Consultant who currently works with the New York City Housing Authority and Liberty Sunset Gardens, as a consultant. He also works as a horticulture therapist at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation and writes for The Children’s Hope Newspaper.
Prior to working with the entities mentioned above, Mr. Harper worked as an Environmental Educator at Drew Garden in New York City.
He is an inventor and patent holder of a brand of park bench that can be folded.
